Controls Engineer

Description

The Controls Engineer will be responsible for driving and giving solutions for the plant’s technology such as providing support on electrical distribution systems, controls upgrades, start of equipment, automation, documentation, and troubleshoot controls.

Responsibilities

  • Manage technical projects in an extremely fast-paced environment.
  • Managing new projects, configuring control modules and HMI graphics.
  • Process Control, Alarm Management, Operator Interface Optimization.
  • Integration of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and process controls.
  • Training end users on modified process control systems.
  • Standardization of control systems and control logic designs.
  • Plant liaison and commissioning by all outside controls contractors.
  • Work with system integrators to ensure documented PLC program changes.
  • Maintain automation documentation (schematics, functional descriptions, PLC
    programs, SCADAs, etc.).
  • Manage Automation improvement projects.
  • Mentor/train Instrumentation & Controls Technicians.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering. or 7+ years of manufacturing automation experience required.
  • Understand change and upgrade PLC logic (Rockwell platform preferred, Siemens a plus), VFD’s, network switches.
  • Update P&ID’s, electrical/mechanical prints (AutoCAD preferred).
  • Creating policy, and develop new strategies and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Understand engineering drawings, operating manuals, blueprints.
